Michael Grzimek:
HE GAVE ALL HE POSSESSED
INCLUDING HIS LIFE FOR THE WILD ANIMALS OF AFRICA.
Bernhard Grzimek: A LIFETIME
OF CARING FOR WILD
ANIMALS AND THEIR PLACE ON OUR PLANET. IT IS
BETTER TO LIGHT A CANDLE THAN TO CURSE THE DARKNESS. |
"Serengeti shall not die...!"
"Die Serengeti darf nicht sterben...!"
Prof. Bernhard Grzimek (Director of the Zoological Garden in
Frankfurt/ Germany for decades) and his son Michael set their lives and
love all for making this important unique movie - fighting for
protection of environment and wildlife in East-Africa. After Michael's
death Bernhard continued to complete this first ever German
Oscar-nominated and award winning project. He was a pioneer in using
public media such as his own TV-show, a popular magazine and a large
number of books based on countless research trips. It was meant to be
the start of generations to follow his steps worldwide.
Today Frankfurt Zoological Society still continues Grzimek's
work. Regular flights ie. over the Serengeti plains help to count the
number of Wilderbeest, today their population has increased, their paths
are protected. Also thousands of tourists every year help to carry the
message around the world. |
